From Chairman Mattila

Are you concerned with the direction that our nation is going?  Are you ready to stand up and make a difference?  Then the Clark County Republican Party wants you … TO RUN FOR OFFICE!

Candidate filing week for this year is upon us.  We want Republicans to run for every available office in Clark County!  Candidates for elective offices in 2021 need to file during the week of May 17-21.  There are a few qualifications.  The most basic one is that you have to be alive.  In some cases you have to live in a certain area to run for an office.  Basically, if you are reading this, you are qualified to run for something.  There are so many benefits to running and winning seats, the first being that you will get to influence public policy in common sense conservative ways.  Another benefit is that it will prepare you for other ways to serve in the future.  The time is now for Republicans to stand up and be counted and make our voices heard.  In this newsletter you will find information and links to help you determine which offices might be available and which offices you might want to run for.  Feel free to contact me at (360) 903-9940 or our State Committeeman Dick Rylander at rylander_ccrp@zohomail.com for more info.  The Clark County Republican Party stands ready to help you get elected should you decide to step up and run.

WE WANT YOU
TO RUN FOR OFFICE!

May 17-21 is Filing Week!  You've checked this link to find out what local positions are open and available, you've Zoomed into the May 10th  Prospective Candidate Training, and now you, or someone you know, has decided to run for office, and you've made a list of all the positions you think you might want to run for.  Now what?  True, there are a lot of steps to filing your candidacy and running a campaign ... But what if you had a detailed checklist with timeline to follow?  Search no further!  State Committeeman Dick Rylander has put together a comprehensive guide to help candidates like you to plan and execute your campaign!  He's pulled together all the pieces to help

local Clark County candidates organize their effort to get elected!  How do you get it?  Contact State Committeeman Dick Rylander at rylander_ccrp@zohomail.com and share your views on local issues and why you are interested in running.  Once vetted, we'll send you the Candidate Guide and Checklist so you can work through it with your PCO, LD Chair/Director, and friends who are ready to rally their support.  Don’t wait!  Contact us today so we can help YOU take back our county, one seat at a time!

"Don't you DARE rob me ..."

One Sunday morning my high school science teacher, Mr. Clarence Blaine, stopped me as I was walking into church.  He asked me where his support letter was.  I looked at him with a blank expression, then stared at the ground, telling him that I hadn't written one and was working to raise money for a mission trip - by myself.  What he said next burned itself into my heart, the gist

of which was, "I'm old, and I can't go.  But God has called you.  Don't you DARE rob me of the opportunity to serve.  Next time I see you, I want that letter."

I need you to hear this.  Every act of giving is a gift.  It is a blessing.  It blesses both the receiver and the giver.  We need to be about the business of actively giving, and doing so with extreme, ridiculous generosity.  In that moment my own legalistic mindset of self-sufficient responsibility was thoroughly shredded by Mr. Blaine's blunt, kind, and compassionate rebuke.  A rebuke for which I will forever be grateful.

Mr. Blaine seized on that moment to teach me a life lesson, a lesson you have the opportunity to seize today.  You have the opportunity to partner with real people doing real good in our community.  You have the opportunity to support men and women who will stand for our God-given rights.  This is one of those times we can't do it alone - and that's a good thing.  Because when we pull together, WE THE PEOPLE get to own it.  Your hard-earned donation dollars are needed, but you know what else counts?  Your skills, your time, and your talents.  While you may not be called to run for office, you can support those who are.  While you may not be able to physically volunteer and help campaign door to door, you can support those who do.  Maybe you have years of customer service experience and can talk with voters and potential donors on the phone.  Or maybe you're a writer and have the gift of non-oratory persuasion.  Check out our Volunteer Form to see all the many ways you can step up and serve!

Are you a small business owner who could donate goods or services for auction?  Maybe you own a vacation membership and can donate lodging somewhere fun and relaxing.  Maybe you're an exterminator and can help someone with ants or yellow jackets (Asking for a ... friend).  Maybe you know how to fix cars and can put in a new starter and steering column (Same *cough* friend has a 1976 Grand Sierra pickup permanently parked in my driveway.  Sheesh.).  Maybe you do landscaping and have equipment to move small boulders and build a retaining wall so kids can play safely in the front yard away from traffic (Man, that friend of mine, she's so needy ...).  Maybe you want to support great local businesses and conservative efforts at the same time, and think putting together a year of monthly dinner dates with gift cards and sample menus would be a big hit (Someone PLEASE do this!  I'll tell my *cough* friend's husband it's what she wants for Christmas!).

So many opportunities!!  Get creative!  If you find yourself in the "Yeah, I have something awesome I can offer for auction!" category, click HERE to fill out our online procurement form where you can donate high-dollar goods and services.  We'll be announcing a super fun fundraising event soon, and we need awesome auction items and services to drive home success!  And my *cough* friend can't realistically bid on everything (Although she would love to!), so let's get a lot of great options out there!!

Thank you so much for stepping up.  Whether you can give a monthly recurring donation, help with procurement items, or volunteer your time and talents, your gift isn't the only blessing.  You are.

Standing with you,

Secretary Kelli Fiskum  :)
